The Strelnikov Model 1915 (Dubbed Strelnikov Avtomat), is a semi-automatic rifle heavily based on the mexican M1908 Mondragon rifle. Although few were manufactured for the first world war, it saw more widespread use in the Polish-Soviet War of 1920.
History[]
Designed by Russian arms designer Andrei Strelnikov, he set out to make an effective semi-automatic rifle for russian forces. The Russian government approved his design in 1915, but only a few units were produced for the first world war. After the Russian revolution in 1917, when the soviets took power, the gun was ready for mass-production. As many as 50,000 units were made, and it last saw actin during the winter war.
