Sparrow Armaments Company is an Australian firearms manufacturer formed in 1947.

History[]

Formed after WW2 by Arthur Sparrow, learning from the experiences of fighting in the pacific Arthur created and designed a Prototype of the SA-3 Submachine gun that followed the designs of the Owen submachine gun minimized the cost of production and maximizes ergonomics as well as effectiveness. This designed rivaled that of the Owen submachine gun but did not manage to replace the Owen that was in service.

During the Korean War, The Sparrow Armaments company was on the verge of bankruptcy, due to a very small number of state and nonstate buyers. The company was saved when Arthur built a licensed copy of the M1 Garand dubbed SA-M4G, Improving upon the design of the Garand increasing its ergonomics at a higher production cost, Due to Australia at the time sending military aid to Korea, the SA-M4G was bought in large quantities for field-testing and approved for combat. It was approved when it was shown to be superior to the SMLEs and M1 Garands being used at the time. The SA-M4G features a bolt catch that can be manually released when pushed forward, This removed the garand thumb injury caused by the bolt and with the edition to use SMLE stripper clips to feed into a 10 round box magazine.

The two weapons soon became obsolete as weapons such as AK47 were shown to be superior on the battlefield, Arthur now a 32-year-old with early signs of tuberculosis was amazed by the Russian AK47 design, As with every weapon he got his hands on, he made a gun model based on the AK47's design and combining aspects of the L1A1, the Australian army then bought 500 of these new rifles where they were used by Australian Commandos who ditched their L1A1s to praise the SA-09 in the jungles of Vietnam. Arthur continued to produce more firearms each one out preforming the last until his battle with tuberculosis came to an end in 1979. After his death, Arthur's son James Aaron Sparrow inherited his father's wealth and his company, these things weren't the only things he inherited he inherited his father's ingenious and ingenuity, following in his father's footsteps becoming a major arms company within the market.
