The Sterne-Schmied Industrie "General Utility Shotgun, 10 guage, 2016, Inertia"[]

History and Summary[]

Developed as a little brother to the HUS 4-16, the GUS has almost immediately received critical acclaim as the shotgun's successor. Chambered in a smaller but still very powerful shell, featuring a very similar external appearance, but using a completely different operation mechanism.

GUS

This weapon has been developed with the inertial drive, used in some early shotguns, many Benellis and more recently Browning (who have coined it as the "Kinematic Drive"). The inertial mechanism uses the rearward motion of the weapon and a spring-loaded mechanism to drive the bolt backwards and cycle the weapon. Unique, and very effective given the large full-power cartridge of the shotgun.

The GSG 9 have made a large order for the GUS as a breaching weapon, designed for blowing hinges or anything else that might be locking you out of a room. Plans are being made for shortening and lightening the weapon to be more appealing as an elite counter-terrorism armament. It's also popular among big game hunters for providing more power than a standard 12 gauge shotgun, especially since it strangely retains the rifled barreled sported by its big brother.

GUS2

The GUS 10-16IK (Kommando/Kompakt). A limited-run variant, cut down from the original. Sold solely to the GSG 9 and in use by the DITSU.
