The XM63 is a heavy AM Rifle made by Phoenix Precision Firearms, a US-based weapons manufacturer. It is designed to replace the M107, a rifle that is currently in service with the US Military. While the CEO of Phoenix Firearms initially wanted to go with basic .50BMG/.338 Lapua Magnum cartridges, the general inability of those rounds to withstand such speed forced him to change up the game. Thus the .50VAM (Velocity Anti-Materiel, 12.7x109) and the .338VAP (Velocity Anti-Personnel, 8.58x77) cartridges were created. Their primary usage is to be compatible with the huge energy they were given at launch, but still be shootable in case the rails are turned off for any reason such as low power or physical deformation. .50VAM rounds are equipped with tungsten penetrators (Minus the civilian versions of the ammunition) and have a much sharper nose than .50BMG and similar high-cal projectiles. The penetrators cover the front side of the bullet and disintegrate into 4 pieces that continue channeling through the building/vehicle, while the explosive charge of the round, locaned behind the penetrator, gets exposed and produces a small explosion powerful enough to injure the vehicle's passengers even if neither they nor the vehicle's engine were directly hit. The .338 bullets, on the other hand, are seldom equipped with penetrators and are often shot with high-grain loads instead. This is due to the fact that future infantry suits are usually designed to minimize penetration, but nobody ever thought that there's a type of bullet that can destroy a person's ribcage, and those heavy .338 loads are designed to do just that.
