The PPF XM18 is an advanced assault rifle designed to replace the M16.

Overview

The Phoenix Precision Firearms XM18 is, in essence, an updated version of the SCR rifle. Present among those changes are an ambidextrous charging handle, detachable forend, new stock (both solid and folding), an advanced muzzle brake and 2 new calibers. In contrast to the SCR, a heavy battle rifle made primarily out of metals, the XM18 is a light ASSAULT rifle composed of polymer and carbon fibre, with only the firing mechanism, gas system and barrel being made of metal. Speaking of the gas system, this rifle has 2 options - Direct Impingement or short-stroke piston.

Variants

XM18R

The "R" is for "Rifle". This Variant of the weapon, shown above, is meant for marksmen and infantry soldiers. While long, the rifle more than makes up for its size with its devastating power and accuracy, while its solid spring-loaded stock absorbs most of the recoil. Like all other XM18s, this one has a muzzle brake that pushes forward and down to neutralize muzzle rise.

Such a lust for carbines? WHOOOOOO!?

The carbine rifle is equipped with a shorter barrel and folding+telescoping stock, with half the railed forend removed. It has a short buffer tube built into the back of the receiver, as opposed to the Rifle version's long one, nevertheless, the R can still be converted into the C in just a couple of minutes. The carbine also comes in an integrally suppressed variation that fires subsonic .378 Silent Phoenix/.300 BLK rounds.

XM18P/PS

Arnold approves.

The P version is light and concealable. I said so, and you dare not say otherwise! In all seriousness, though, the P was created with the same concept in mind as the MP5k: a vertical (reverse-angled in this case) foregrip, no stock, short barrel and a faster firing speed due to a short gas system. This beautiful piece can also be suppressed. If you're man enough, you can even dual-wield it... What's not to like?

Are you on the business end of this thing? Have fun!

The SP (Special Purpose) version is a longer HBAR sniper version of the gun. The difference between this rifle and the XM18R is in the caliber - the upper reciever and bolt are configured for the .458 SOCOM round. Phoenix Precision Firearms manufactures 3 +P+ (45000 psi) variatons of the cartridge with 200gr FMJ, 250gr JHP or 325 AP rounds, either of which have absolutely devastating effects on the target, with the AP version being capable of defeating Class III armor. The downside? Low magazine capacity, although PPF aims to shoot this inconvenience down with a new magazine.

A blast from the past!

The Commando is a VERY short XM18 built to feel like the Colt CAR-15 Commando: It has a short 9" barrel, a retractable stock (which has a hole on the inside to fit the slightly-protruding buffer tube) and a special upper reciever that fits said stock and has a railed carrying handle on top. Due to its short barrel, it is most commonly used with the low-velocity, high-mass .378 Phoenix (a supersonic load, to be exact). Its gas system was taken from the Pistol, so it has the same ludicrous rate of fire. Don't worry, the compensator eliminates muzzle rise, but you'll still get quite a pat on the shoulder.

Ammunition

.378 SP (above), .26 Phoenix (below).

There are 2 unique cartridges for the XM18: The supersonic 6.6x44mm ".26 Phoenix" and the subsonic-capable 9.5x36mm ".378 Phoenix". The former is very similar to the 6.8 SPC, but features a higher maximum chamber pressure, while the latter is the same thing necked up to take giant slow bullets. The rifle is also chambered in 6.8 SPC, 5.56 NATO, .300 AAC Blackout and .458 SOCOM.
