The SMG-9 (SubMachine Gun-9mm) is a weapon that was formerly produced by Bodan and Adams Firearms Co. The SMG-9 is currently produced in a semi-automatic form by Accurafire Manufacturing Company. The SMG-9 was used in WWII along with the Thompson series of submachine guns and the M3/M3A1.

History[]

To improve the popularity of the company and to increase salary, Bodan and Adams Firearms Co.'s founder, John Bodan, wanted to create a submachine gun for use in the U.S Armed Forces. He ordered the company to start working on a submachine gun that had less recoil than the Thompson submachine guns but more stopping power than the average 9mm submachine gun. To achieve this, B&A Firearms Co. made ammunition just for it, called the 9mm Punch. The 9mm Punch bullet works alot like modern riot control bullets: it makes the bullet feel like it hurts more than it actually does. The SMG (which of course later was named the SMG-9), along with being made to have less recoil and more power than the Thompson SMGs, was also made to be lighter than them. It weighed 9 pounds (1.4 pounds lighter than the Thompson M1A1).
